About the role
This position serves as a Land Services Agent, responsible for negotiating and preserving property rights for utility installations. The role involves providing technical support, assisting with land transactions, and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Performs technical research and analysis
- Prepares and evaluates reports related to land use, zoning, permits, and regulatory issues
- Provides local and state information and technical assistance in land use, permitting, zoning, smart growth, and regulatory issues
- Creates and delivers presentations to the public, advocacy groups, business community, and local, state, and federal officials
- Maintains current knowledge concerning local, state, and federal land use planning and development requirements and processes
- Oversees thorough and accurate title and property searches
- Reviews, produces, and obtains high quality easements, ROW documents, letters, and other written materials
- Interprets and assists in the production of engineering surveys, and legal documents related to ROW acquisition
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to management
- Assists in securing easements and land access for utility projects
- Acts as a liaison between utility companies, landowners, contractors, and government agencies
- Maintains accurate records of land transactions and agreements
- Participates in technical and advisory committees, working groups, and task forces as appropriate
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5-7 years of related experience
- Advanced listening, observation, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, organize, focus on, and complete work
- Ability to research independently
- Ability to demonstrate advanced interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups
Skills
- Knowledge of land use and zoning regulations, permitting processes, public policy, smart growth, and other planning techniques and strategies
- Advanced computer skills and ability to navigate in and effectively use GIS/ArcView/Landworks/Google Earth/MSOffice Tools
- Analysis and problem-solving ability
