About the role
This position serves as a Land Services Agent, responsible for negotiating, obtaining, and preserving property rights for utility installations. The role involves providing technical support and assistance in land use, permitting, zoning, and regulatory matters.
Responsibilities
- Performs technical research and analysis; prepares and evaluates reports related to land use, zoning, permits, and regulatory issues and projects
- Prepares and delivers presentations to the public, advocacy groups, business community, and local, state, and federal officials
- Participates in technical and advisory committees, working groups, and task forces as appropriate
- Maintains current knowledge concerning local, state, and federal land use planning and development requirements and processes
- Oversees thorough and accurate title and property searches
- Reviews, produces, and obtains high quality easements, ROW documents, letters, and other written materials
- Interprets and assists in the production of engineering surveys, and legal documents related to ROW acquisition
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to management
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5-7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced listening, observation, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, organize, focus on, and complete work
- Ability to research independently
- Ability to demonstrate advanced interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups
Skills
- Knowledge of land use and zoning regulations, permitting processes, public policy, smart growth, and other planning techniques and strategies
- Ability to apply the concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
