About the role

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) seeks an experienced Land Protection Manager to join our dynamic team. As a member-based nonprofit organization, WPC works to protect and restore natural places across Western Pennsylvania through partnerships with landowners, government agencies, and conservation organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, contact, and inform landowners about conservation options in WPC's priority conservation areas.
  • Maintain paper and electronic files in compliance with WPC's standards.
  • Prepare and review legal documents related to land transactions.
  • Manage land protection projects, including attending meetings, conducting site visits, and coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Assist science staff in developing parcel-level land protection plans and implement these plans.
  • Research and prepare grant proposals to secure funding for land protection initiatives.
  • Participate in WPC organizational events and assist with event planning.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in natural resources, real estate, law, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of land protection tools such as easements, deed restrictions, deeds, and best management practices.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including driving and conducting field investigations in various terrains.
  • Effective speaking and hearing abilities.
  • Good visual acuity.

  • Proficiency in legal and financial documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

Pay

$57,900 to $68,500 annually. Salary may be higher based on experience.
