Land Development Project Manager

About the role

NV5 is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Project Manager for our Cary, NC office. The Project Manager will provide technical expertise and project management associated with site/civil design projects, demonstrating experience in managing projects from concept through construction while meeting project schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project engineering and production on assigned projects as Manager.
  • Assist other project managers by managing project engineering and production of assigned tasks.
  • Supervise and assist staff in design and plan production.
  • Perform engineering design and detailing for all aspects of site development, including site layout, grading, stormwater, utilities, and road improvements.
  • Perform permitting tasks to keep projects on track.
  • Sign and seal calculations, specifications, and plans you oversee and are responsible for.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews for other Project Managers’ projects when needed.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control reviews are performed on your projects.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, managers, peer engineering companies, and clients.
  • Complete project tasks within deadlines and budgets.
  • Meet with clients for projects and other business development opportunities.
  • Maintain strong client and in-house staff relationships.
  • Assist with technical mentoring of in-house design engineers and designers.
  • Assist in proposal development, including fee and project budget development.
  • Track project financial performance and manage within project fees/budget.
  • Assist with and/or approve project invoicing.
  • Market all NV5 services to current and potential clients to obtain new contracts.
  • Assist with the Company’s business development and networking efforts.
  • Participate in professional and civic organizations.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • NC Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of experience with Civil Engineering Project Management on projects similar to those NV5 performs.
  • 10+ years of experience in site/civil design.
  • Project experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, and/or educational sites.
  • Design experience in all aspects of site development, including site layout, grading, stormwater, utilities, and road improvements.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation, WaterCAD, Excel, stormwater modeling software, and other civil design software.
  • Sustainability certification/experience (e.g., LEED, Green Globes) is a plus.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment.
