About the role
STV is currently seeking a Land Development Civil Engineering Specialist for its Buildings group in Owings Mills, MD. The ideal candidate will work on high-profile projects in education, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare construction documents, permit packages, and support construction services.
- Utilize design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation; HydroCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs and ArcGIS) to create construction drawings, layouts, and models for land development projects.
- Conduct site investigations and assessments to support design decisions.
- Develop sustainable and innovative solutions for site layouts, stormwater management, grading, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
- Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies to secure permits and approvals.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate site design with overall project goals.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and progress.
- Support project managers by monitoring budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Stay current with industry trends, technology, and best practices to enhance project quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (required).
- 3 years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE exam is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with site development principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation (ArcGIS and Hydraflow Hydrographs preferred but not required).
- Exposure to permitting processes in Maryland jurisdictions (Baltimore City experience a plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for client and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Pay
$79,979.92 - $91,405.62
