About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or supervise or administer work in the acquisition of lands for public purposes, in the disposition of public lands for approved private and public purposes, and in the inspection and enforcement of terms and conditions of land dispositions and provisions of public land laws.
  • Independently perform selected assignments in transaction preparation of land acquisitions and dispositions, and routine land inspection and enforcement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Legal Authorization To Work: Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Basic Education: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Specialized Experience: One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrated knowledge of Hawaii Land laws, real estate laws and terminology, the real property appraisal process, various types of land titles and legal instruments affecting land transactions; and the ability to gather and analyze land transaction data; prepare reports of findings, including conclusions and recommendations, and meet and deal effectively with others.

Qualifications

  • Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
  • Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Federal Criminal History Records Check: In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application.

  • Deferred Compensation: The State offers employees a voluntary pre-tax retirement savings plan designed to give employees a tax break today and an opportunity to build a retirement nest egg through voluntary payroll deductions.
  • Temporary Disability Insurance: Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non-work related injury or illness under this program.
  • Social Security: As an employer, the State also contributes to an employee's social security account.

Pay

$5,107 to $6,221 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)
