Main duties and responsibilities
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Completes daily schedule by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on production summaries.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action
- Provide leadership and day-to-day direction for the Shipping team ensuring team members are aware of their expectations in each specific role.
- Provide formal and informal performance feedback, while also leading by example; this includes technical knowledge, initiative, attitude, drive, attendance, professionalism and overall leadership, as well as other areas identified by the Logistics Manager and Human Resources.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
- Issue written and oral instructions to assigned personnel; assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the transportation modes.
- Process shipping documents including Bill of Lading, Custom Invoices and Tally Sheets.
- Provide support for inventories, reconciles shipments, processes freight claims, maintains files and records related to the sales and transportation departments.
- Coordinate all day-to-day operations and projects in conjunction with the Logistics Manager. Serve as a back-up to other positions as necessary
- Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work inter-departmentally to implement new ideas
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. / Bachelor's Degree in Business or similar field preferred or equivalent work experience
- Minimum seven (7) years direct experience in production or process in industrial manufacturing
- Minimum five (5) years experience in a supervisory/leadership role
- Mid-level to Advanced Computer Skills including KSoft and Microsoft Suite
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
