POSITION PURPOSE
Acts as a clinical/educational resource to patient care activities/teaching programs within the area of defined specialization. Supports patient/family/unit needs of diverse ages.
Essential Functions
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Identifies educational needs, develops program(s) to meet those needs, and coordinates implementation of the program(s).
- Evaluates programs and modifies as indicated.
- Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, MercyOne Medical Center policies, nursing standards, and professional judgment.
- Serves as a resource in area of specialty and collaborates with other disciplines.
- Provides consultation in specialty areas to all levels of health care providers throughout the hospital, affiliated schools of nursing, and the community.
- Actively participates on committees, task forces, and in work groups, as requested.
- Presents selected program topics.
- Facilitates program presentation/equipment gathering.
- Utilizes delegation skills effectively.
- Captains the lactation champions and the “Mommy and Me” class.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
- BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification within six (6) weeks of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within six (6) weeks of hire.
- Demonstrates competency in breastfeeding techniques.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
