Lactation Consultant PRN

Role Overview The RN Lactation Consultant provides evidence-based education, hands-on support, and compassionate guidance to new parents to promote successful breastfeeding and infant nutrition. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess needs, develop individualized feeding plans, and ensure families feel confident and supported during their hospital stay. Key Responsibilities Conduct personalized lactation assessments and provide education and support to breastfeeding parents and infants.Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to create and implement feeding plans.Document consultations, monitor outcomes, and ensure care aligns with hospital policies and evidence-based practices.Provide lactation management training for new staff and ongoing education for interdisciplinary teams. Qualifications & Skills Associate’s degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.Maryland RN License and BLS certification required.IBCLC or CLC certification, with NRP within 6 months of hire.Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in maternal-newborn care. Additional Details: This PRN position involves 12-hour shifts based on departmental needs.
