Job Summary

Provides professional leadership and advanced knowledge in the practice of lactation management. Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes.
• Provides outpatient care, consultation, and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.
• Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient's health problems.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Required: Academic degree in nursing or food and nutrition
• PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or food and nutrition
• Experience:
• Required: Experience working with Mother Baby couplets in low and high-risk situations
• Certifications:
• Required: Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession (such as Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian) as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
• Must be certified as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
• AHA BLS.
