Lactation Consultant - Family Care Center, Nights

About the role

This position involves assessing and evaluating the breastfeeding couplet, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on this assessment. The role also provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients, including adolescents and adults.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults).
• Monitors the couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families.
• Provides patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Graduate of a School of Nursing.
• Work Experience: 2 years of clinical nursing in area of specialty or one year of education experience. Required: 2 years experience in Maternal Child area.
• Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required. IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Preferred or certification as a breast feeding counselor Preferred. Current GA RN License Required. Additional Licenses and Certifications: International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) Breastfeeding Certification Required. BLS Certification Required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification Required.
