Responsibilities
- Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet.
- Planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment.
- Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults).
- Coordinates care through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintains an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families.
- Provides patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Required: Bachelors Degree of Nursing
- PREFERRED: Graduate of a School of Nursing
- Work Experience: 2 years of clinical nursing in area of specialty or one year of education experience
- Required: 2 years experience in Maternal Child area
- Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required
- PREFERRED: IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
- Breastfeeding Certification Required: International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC)
- BLS Certification Required
- NRP Certification Required
