Lactation Consultant - Family Care Center, Nights
About the role
Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet, including planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, postpartum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established policies and procedures.
Monitors the couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports breastfeeding families. Provides patient and staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality education programs and activities that promote the health of patients and the community through the life cycle.
- Facilitate individual development of staff according to learning needs identified through a variety of sources to support patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required).
- 2 years of clinical nursing experience in area of specialty or one year of education experience (required).
- 2 years of experience in Maternal Child area (required).
Qualifications
- Current GA RN License (required).
- BLS Certification (required).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (required).
- International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certification or breastfeeding counselor certification (required).
Preferred qualifications: IBCLC certification or certification as a breastfeeding counselor.
