About the role
The Department 37904 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Lactation Services seeks a full-time IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) to join our dedicated team.
Responsibilities
- Provides consultation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to mothers of patients in the management of breastfeeding to promote optimal patient outcomes.
- Educates staff and complex breastfeeding management.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team in monitoring breastfeeding progress of mothers and modifying the plan of care to promote optimal outcomes.
- Maintains breastfeeding statistics for Brenner Children's Hospital.
- Develops policies and procedures as needed for Lactation Consultant services, breastfeeding equipment and resources and participates in performance and quality improvement activities and outcomes projects.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college/university with Bachelor's degree in Administration, Nutrition, or Nursing.
- Prior experience in a neonatal intensive care or pediatric unit as an IBCLC preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills preferred.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates ability to successfully counsel and assist mothers with breastfeeding skills.
- Ability to develop educational programs for families and staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with medical and nursing staff, employees and the public.
Skills
- Knowledge of lactation science and practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.

Pay
$33.05 - $49.60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Birth Center 10 hour evening shifts.
