Labourer/Operator – Parks and Recreation Term Position

Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Foreman, this full-time term position (40 hours per week) works within a team environment to support the Community Services Department.

Responsibilities

• Arena facility operation, maintenance, and custodial duties
• Park and greenspace maintenance
• Public relations
• Operation of equipment such as ice resurfacing equipment, grass cutting equipment, tractors, etc.
• General municipal department support
• Supervision of seasonal staff
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate most of the following skills and abilities:

• Experience in the operation of a wide variety of equipment and vehicles
• Strong interpersonal and people skills
• Basic mechanical skills
• Experience or aptitude for turf management or horticulture
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Physical fitness, including the ability to lift 50 lbs and endure extended periods of walking or standing

Requirements

• Acceptable RCMP Security Clearance Check
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Current Driver’s Abstract as a condition of employment
• Availability for regular shift work, including evenings and weekends

Pay

$63,969 - $66,528 per year

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Six-month term with the possibility of extension
