Laborist, Academic OB/GYN
About the role
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston Medical Center Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is recruiting for an Academic Obstetrician in a Hospitalist Role/Laborist.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team that provides safe, high-quality, cost-effective obstetrical care using evidence-based medicine and best practices.
- Manage the obstetric unit, labor management, and deliveries, including operative deliveries.
- Round on antepartum and postpartum patients, provide obstetric and gynecologic consultations to the inpatient and emergency departments, and consult for family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers.
- Work in a high-acuity labor and delivery unit, with approximately 3,000 deliveries/year.
- Be part of a multi-disciplinary obstetric team that includes OB/GYN generalists, Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Family Medicine obstetric providers, Physician Assistants, and residents.
- Provide education, training, and supervision of resident physicians and medical students.
Requirements
- MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and a Massachusetts Medical License.
- Board-certified or actively pursuing board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Demonstrated commitment to obstetrics education, health equity, and quality improvement.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages besides English is highly desirable but not required.
- 3+ years post-residency experience or completion of an OB/Gyn Hospitalist fellowship preferred.
- Experience in high-volume, high-risk obstetrics is also preferred.
Qualifications

Pay
Compensation ranges between $286,213 and $388,800. A sign-on bonus of $50,000 is offered. Relocation assistance is provided.
Schedule
The full-time role requires 12 shifts (10-14 hours) per month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts for additional compensation.
