Laborer - Packaging (New Hire)

About the role
The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to a variety of packaging, cleaning, or reprocessing positions within the Packaging Department. This entry-level role involves continuous heavy labor, including repetitive hand, arm, and body movements, and may require working at any station or location in the department.
Responsibilities
- Package, seal, and convey sugar packages ranging from 1 to 2000 pounds.
- Perform tasks such as check weighing, cutting damaged packages, station cleaning, sorting and stacking materials, and lifting packaged materials weighing 24 to 50 pounds for hand palletizing.
- Operate industrial hand trucks to transport palletized materials.
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and a hard hat.
- Work in noisy conditions typical of a food packing environment, with exposure to refined sugar, sugar dust, cleaning soaps, lubricants, and moving equipment.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for 6-8+ hours per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, grasp, push, and pull.
Pay
Hourly Rate: $27.10
