About the role

This position is responsible for assisting the packing function by supplying dry supplies, monitoring the packaging equipment, building totes, hand stacking cases on pallets when necessary, cleaning and sanitation duties as needed. This position supports both the main line and co-product line.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Be actively engaged in safety, participate in safety programs, engage in safety activities, perform risk assessments and demonstrate ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
  • Report all near hits, incidents, and any safety concerns.
  • Aid in the supply of cases/trays to the packaging equipment.
  • Assist with line rework.
  • Know basic operation of pack room equipment and the ability to start, stop and clear stoppages for the packaging equipment.
  • May be called to perform duties of rework, frozen inspection and strip out.
  • Assist in the bulking process.
  • Work in the freezer making totes, cleaning up potato debris and assisting the tote room driver with general duties.
  • Know and follow all lock out/tag out procedures for assigned work area.
  • Maintain floors, catwalks, handrails and other walkways in a clean and safe manner.
  • Perform sanitation activities.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices and GMP's.

  • Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules, GMP’s and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Possess a working knowledge of how the equipment works.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
  • Be able to balance teamwork and individual responsibilities.
  • Be able to work well under pressure.
  • Have the ability and willingness to follow directions.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.

Physical Demands

  • Be able to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Have normal finger dexterity and range of motion.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Have specific vision abilities required by this job, which include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently be exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
  • May be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment can exceed 85 dB.
  • Work around forklift traffic.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role is listed below.
