About the Role

Raytheon operates and maintains the Navy’s three Relocatable Over The Horizon Radars (ROTHR). Each radar consists of a remote transmit and receive site, all operated from the Consolidated Operations Control Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. The ROTHR mission is primarily to track and report the movement of aircraft and ships carrying illicit narcotics from South America toward Central America and the United States. This position supports the maintenance and upkeep of the ROTHR facilities in Vieques, PR.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

This is a service contract position with a set hourly rate of $17.75/hour, plus a Health & Welfare benefit of $6.00/hour. Courtesy roundtrip charter flight transportation between Ceiba and Vieques, Puerto Rico is provided by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning of all areas of the site facilities.
  • Operate and perform simple maintenance on lawn equipment as needed.
  • Provide labor support to site projects and upgrades.
  • Maintain the grounds of the ROTHR facilities, including:
    • Cutting grass, trimming hedges, edging, and pruning shrubs.
    • Planting grass, spreading fertilizer, and applying pesticides.
    • Corrosion control.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned and required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the U.S.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • At least six months of combined practical Grounds Maintenance experience.
  • Clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
  • If employed beyond 12 months, must qualify as a Registered Technician for State Certified Pesticide Applicator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Registered State Pesticide Applicator certification.
  • Previous or current security clearance.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions outlined in written procedures with minimal supervision.
