About the role
Performs sample handling in accordance with state and local EPA regulations. Participates in tasks related to sample receipt, storage, disposal, and shipping samples to outside laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the handling and disposal of samples.
- Perform sample receiving duties including:
- Sample documentation upon receipt
- Sample storage and disposal
- Effectively communicate with Sample Receiving Manager regarding sample receipt discrepancies, such as:
- Incorrect bottle type or preservation
- Additional containers not listed on the chain of custody
- Sample receipt temperature out of specification
- Packing and shipping samples via FedEx.
- Preparing client bottle orders.
- Assist laboratory with glassware cleaning for all departments.
- Assist chemists and other technicians as needed.
- Perform all responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with Eurofins Laboratory safety policy.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment compliant with Eurofins Laboratory’s Health & Safety program and local laws.
- Utilize computer-based laboratory information systems to track and store sample containers and for shipping purposes.
- Perform duties in an organized and timely manner, adhering to courier arrival times, sample hold times, and nightly FedEx pickup.
Qualifications
- Environmental Science background preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Exceptional multi-tasking ability with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under general supervision.
- Great organizational skills.
- Basic technical knowledge relevant to the assigned department.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Strong leadership qualities preferred.
- Must be able to lift 25+ pounds.
- Familiarity with TALS Laboratory Information Management System.
- Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Pay
$18–20/hour with benefits.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM, plus overtime as needed.
- Training for 1–2 weeks on first shift: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
