Laboratory Technician in Training - Electron Microscopy

About the role

This position is within the Electron Microscopy department at Arkana Laboratories. The Laboratory Technician in Training will assist in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists.

Responsibilities

• Assess tissue adequacy for testing
• Perform quality control checks on materials produced
• Complete equipment maintenance and logs
• Develop problem-solving skills—determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
• Control operations of equipment and systems
• Maintain Lab logs and tracking sheets
• Assist in Lab for other duties as assigned
• Practice safe work procedures while performing job duties
• Periodically review work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and workload limits

Requirements

• All SOPs must be followed
• Report any discrepancies, errors, or deviations from SOPs or policies to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead, and/or Section Lead
• Maintain Laboratory Standards for Clinical Testing
• Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two-year college or university with at least 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry
• Certification eligible
• Experience: Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills; prefer 2 years of lab experience but not required
• Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word

Qualifications

• Eligible to sit for the National HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employment
