Electron Microscope Technician

Location: Hillsboro, OR, 97124 – 100% onsite
Duration: 12-month contract

Schedule

Shift: 03:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday (2nd shift), with occasional weekend work.

About the role

The successful candidate will support R&D projects by executing SEM imaging and sample-prep requests on time. You will work independently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring maximum throughput through strong communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot scanning electron microscopes (SEM) independently
• Perform sample preparation and SEM imaging for R&D projects
• Collaborate with team members to maintain high throughput
• Occasionally operate focused ion-beam (FIB) equipment

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on SEM experience, preferably in a QC/R&D setting (or less experience with demonstrated trainability)
• Proficiency in basic microscope troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Familiarity with semiconductor characterization techniques
• Willingness to work 2nd shift and occasional weekends

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field preferred; high-school diploma with equivalent work experience considered
• 2+ years of direct SEM operation experience
• FIB operation experience is a plus
