About the role
The Laboratory Technician In Training will perform laboratory testing of construction materials, with a focus on concrete. They will communicate with various stakeholders including laboratory management, project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor's representatives regarding testing requirements and results.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with laboratory management, project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the laboratory testing requirements and results.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas, ensuring adherence to strict safety standards.
- Under close supervision of senior technicians and laboratory management, learn and assist with tasks and perform basic testing duties.
- Conduct laboratory testing on concrete samples to determine compressive strength, flexural strength, core length measurements, and unit weight while maintaining proper curing conditions and adhering to applicable specifications as required.
- Document findings and results clearly, communicating information to the Project Manager and laboratory management in a timely manner.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by management.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure they are in good working condition.
- Comply with all safety rules and practices, following safety requirements for laboratory testing procedures. Perform pre-task planning before executing work tasks and promptly report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
