Laboratory Technician II

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and testing equipment
  • Work with electronic devices including sensors, thermocouples, flow meters, and other measurement tools
  • Operate and monitor chiller and refrigeration systems, including vapor-compression cycle equipment
  • Conduct calibration procedures on instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications
  • Use Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) to collect, record, and interpret test data
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues in mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems
  • Safely handle and operate electrical tools and equipment across low, medium, and high voltage applications
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and laboratory protocols
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical staff to support experimental and development projects
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper handling of laboratory equipment and materials

Required Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation technology preferred
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, test engineering, or technical maintenance environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with refrigeration, HVAC systems, or thermal testing laboratories is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation principles and electronic devices
  • Familiarity with sensors, thermocouples, flow meters, and similar measurement technologies
  • Knowledge of vapor-compression refrigeration cycles and chiller systems
  • Experience with chiller operation and refrigeration system fundamentals
  • Ability to work with electrical systems at low, medium, and high voltage levels
  • Experience using basic hand tools and electrical tools safely
  • Experience with thermal testing procedures and laboratory environments
  • Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) and data recording techniques
  • Experience with calibration methods and instrument verification
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and system diagrams
  • Ability to lift and handle test equipment and tools as needed
  • Willingness to work in environments involving electrical and mechanical systems
  • Strict adherence to safety practices when working with high-voltage equipment and refrigerants
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
