Laboratory Technician II

Responsibilities

• Aid in overseeing the Division's Container room, ensuring proper receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Prepare and ship orders from submitting facilities for supplies needed for specimen collection.
• Operate routine equipment used for media preparation and maintain organization.
• Operate an autoclave for waste sterilization.
• Sterilize glassware for laboratory use.
• Prepare reagents and assist with sample preparation per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Keep work area clean and free of debris.

• Understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Computer literacy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Adhere to confidentiality requirements (HIPAA).

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High school graduate.
• Experience, Training, or Skills: Two years of laboratory experience. Substitute Education for Experience: Additional education in laboratory science, medical laboratory science, biology, chemistry, microbiology, zoology, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis. Substitute Experience for Education: NONE.
