Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs non-research biological science work in various scientific and public health areas associated with numerous biological and environmental agents.
- Affirms that samples managed by the CDC Biorepository (CBR) are processed and handled correctly to maintain cold-chain and chain-of-custody during all steps of sample disposition (e.g., accessioning, retrieval, transfers, destructions, aliquoting, deliveries).
- Utilizes established LIMS to ensure all required sample data is entered accurately and assists with activities that may require updating records as needed (e.g., annual review).
- Fulfills mandatory Biosafety and IT security training requirements.
Requirements
- Education And Experience: Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, basic medical science, or environmental laboratory science, or 2-5 years of equivalent experience.
- Required Experience: Working with established SOPs across molecular and microbiologist techniques.
- Experience: Working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the preparation of memos and reports; working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS); previous experience working in a similar role; previous experience with "chain of custody" materials and transfers; experience modifying methods based upon evaluation of research results; demonstrating skills and experience writing project reports, research protocols and manuscripts; specific detailed knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements, handling of clinical specimens, and aseptic techniques; knowledge of documentation for equipment calibration and validation; knowledge of quality systems and inventory software functions.
- Languages: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
SALARY
