Grade 1 (Hourly) Position Description: The Wysoczynski Laboratory in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science, Department of Environmental Medicine at the University of Louisville is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician I to support NIH-funded research investigating the role of the immune system in cardiovascular disease, aging, and environmental stress. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of laboratory procedures including molecular biology, immunological assays, cell culture, tissue processing, and general laboratory operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in biomedical research within a collaborative and dynamic academic research environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Assist with laboratory experiments involving cell culture, molecular biology, immunology, and biochemistry. Prepare reagents, buffers, media, and laboratory supplies. Process blood and tissue samples from mouse and human studies. Assist with tissue collection, sample preparation, and cryopreservation. Maintain laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed. Perform routine laboratory maintenance, equipment cleaning, and quality control procedures. Accurately record experimental data and maintain laboratory notebooks and electronic databases. Assist with animal colony maintenance and basic animal procedures under appropriate training, if applicable. Follow institutional biosafety, laboratory safety, and animal care regulations. Participate in laboratory meetings and assist faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff with ongoing research projects. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the laboratory's research mission. Preferred Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related field. Previous laboratory experience in an academic, clinical, or biotechnology research setting. Experience with one or more of the following techniques: Cell culture, Pipetting and preparation of laboratory reagents, DNA, RNA, or protein isolation, PCR or ELISA, Flow cytometry, Microscopy and/or General molecular biology techniques. Experience working with laboratory animals is desirable but not required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and contribute to a collaborative research environment. Target Compensation Maximum: $23.66 Target Compensation Minimum: $15.76 Compensation Will Be Commensurate To Candidate Experience.
