Laboratory Technician I

About the role

Performs venipuncture and skin puncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing. Accessions specimens into the laboratory LIS, processes and distributes them to testing areas, and prepares specimens for referral to reference labs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of previous venipuncture experience in an acute care facility is preferred
• Must demonstrate age-specific competencies for the work area
• CDPH - California State certification required

• Specimen collection using venipuncture and skin puncture
• Laboratory Information System (LIS) accessioning
• Specimen processing and distribution
• Preparation of specimens for referral to reference labs
• Use of centrifuges, computers, and specimen collection devices

Pay

$23.00 - $31.82 per hour. The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay available at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by the candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
