Laboratory Technician I

Based in our Deer Park, TX Laboratory, you’ll step into the lab where every detail matters. You'll play a key role in handling samples, keeping records accurate, and maintaining a clean laboratory to support on-time results every day. You’ll collaborate with a strong team of committed professionals, contribute to meaningful scientific work, and grow your expertise in a dynamic, quality-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). They will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

Compensation: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of samples for analysis
  • Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
  • Sample extractions
  • Determining the volume of samples
  • Cleaning of laboratory glassware
  • Maintaining clean laboratory areas
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
  • Courier supplies to and/or samples from client sites
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
  • Dispose of laboratory waste in a safe manner following prescribed procedures
  • Comply with our Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Comply with our Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record

Preferred Skills

  • Prior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
  • Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Good organizational skills and strong communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Works in an office and/or laboratory environment
  • Must have ability to lift up to 35 lbs routinely and to lift/manipulate smaller weight items throughout the day
  • Must have the ability to stand and move about for approximately 80% of the shift
  • Ability to operate computers and standard lab/office equipment
  • May require weekends, holidays, and overtime
