Laboratory Technician I

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician I to join their growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. This position is based in the Organics department at their Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne, IN.

Responsibilities

• Preserve, prepare, extract, and concentrate samples to be analyzed by the organics department
• Routinely work with client samples, laboratory instruments, chemicals, and reagents
• Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures, published methods, and laboratory accreditations
• Operate under the supervision of more senior test technicians, chemists, and/or department managers
• Complete logs and record test data
• Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Clean glassware and dispose of samples

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of laboratory safety
• H.S. diploma or G.E.D. certificate preferred
• College or vocational school coursework welcomed
• 0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
• Basic understanding of testing concepts
• Possess computer skills
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus

Physical Demands

• Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
• Lifting requirements: lifting 50 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. periodically
