Project Responsibilities

  • Lab Organization: Follow and support the improvement of the workflow process for the MatCOE R&D labs including instrument operation and maintenance. Work with lab owners to schedule upcoming servicing and calibrations.
  • Process Effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely stakeholder engagement and completion of assignments.
  • Innovation: Contribute to the development of creative and novel solutions to technical problems including test fixture and method development.
  • Customer Focus: Develop understanding of customer needs and processes to ensure relevant and innovative product development solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Actively seek training to improve skills. Ensure technical lessons are reviewed, learned and disseminated. Actively teach and promote learning.

Leadership

  • Accountability: Demonstrate strong and clear accountability for the successful and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • R&D Communication: Hold and encourage frequent formal and informal communication within the team and the rest of the organization to ensure dissemination of important information.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a Technical or Science Field
  • 0-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience with polymer characterization / testing instruments and equipment.
  • Training in laboratory safety and procedures.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience operating three or more specific instruments / equipment (including Instron mechanical tester; TGA; DSC; FTIR; rheometers; profilometers; is preferred.
  • Good technical skills and judgment.
  • Basic understanding of disciplined product development processes, regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong fit with BD values.
  • Experience with basic statistical analysis and software (e.g. Minitab) preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office / Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
