Description TITLE: Laboratory Technician I FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt FULL- OR PART-TIME: Full-time PAY RANGE: $21.50 - $24.50 REPORTS TO: Laboratory Supervisor WORK LOCATION: Visalia, California – On-site. This role requires regular on-site work at Edeniq’s Visalia, California location. Candidates must be able to reliably report to the Visalia worksite as required for the position. Edeniq does not provide relocation assistance for this role. Work Schedule Monday through Friday, generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Schedules may occasionally be staggered within Edeniq’s office hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. based on business needs and office coverage requirements. Summary The Laboratory Technician I (“Lab Tech I”) reports to the Laboratory Supervisor (“Lab Supervisor”) and is responsible for conducting and qualifying for assigned assays/assay sets (“assays”) while supporting essential lab functions and conducting work in compliance with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. The Lab Tech I, under the mentorship and guidance of the Lab Supervisor and assigned lab team members, should make efforts to advance to Laboratory Technician II (“Lab Tech II”) through additional assay qualification and completing mastery of an assay; proving their abilities to coach and effectively train others. (“Edeniq” or the “Company”) must adhere to and follow the policies and procedures in the Company’s Employee Handbook and are required to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully toward all Edeniq stakeholders (the Company, fellow employees, vendors, customers and other vested Company parties) with respect, support, honesty, courteousness, and hard work – “doing what we said we would do, and doing it well.” Essential Functions Performs 4 – 5 assigned lab assays pursuant to weekly run scheduleComplete training and qualifications of core team assaysPerform core team assays and submit data entry in a timely and accurate basis, meeting all quality assurance requirementsComplete training in and perform initial qualification on prep and solidsBegin training in additional assay qualification for Lab Tech II requirements, with direction from Lab SupervisorSupport lab workflow, assisting other lab team members in ongoing runsCreate buffers and prep samples for team assaysCreate and maintain stock solutions of reagents and analytical standardsSupport data reintegrationMaintains accurate lab and data records in accordance with Company policiesMaintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work environment, and other tasks as assigned by Lab SupervisorPerform duties in safely and in compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental policies and regulationsOther duties, as assigned REQUIRED EDUCATION: B.A./B.S. in lab sciences or similar field Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Ability to follow written Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) with minimal supervisionPrevious HPLC experience preferred but not required Proficient in basic algebraic and statistical calculations Working knowledge of safe chemical handling proceduresAbility to read, understand, and follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and applicable chemical safety proceduresData analysis experience, including use of statistics and software calculation tools, Excel preferredKnowledge and understanding of QC/QA analysesBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to function effectively and professionally in a team environmentEffective verbal and written communication skills Physical Requirements And Work Environment Must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation. This position is considered light work, exerting up to 5–10 pounds of force or lifting frequently in a laboratory, and up to 30–40 pounds of lifting infrequently. Work is primarily performed upright at a chest-high lab counter for lengthy periods of time while working with chemicals, beakers, flasks, and other lab equipment. Physical Requirements Include Frequently extending hands and arms in any direction, up to 75% of the time.Frequently moving or traversing about the lab.Frequently and/or constantly remaining upright at a lab counter, up to 90% of the time.Frequently and/or constantly applying pressure to objects with the fingers and palm, up to 90% of the time.Frequently raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position, up to 90% of the time.Safely handling hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and following applicable safety policies and procedures.Working in an environment where exposure to liquids, fumes, dust, and gases may occur.
