About the role

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers, identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, performing quality assurance tests on company products, preparing laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite, and providing advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design. The role maintains contact with Client Support Labs and/or operating locations, product centers and the InTouch repository, ensures job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time, develops competency in advanced additive selection and fluid design, ensures laboratory equipment is clean and functional, disposes of waste regularly, prepares technical presentations for internal and external customers, performs regular audits to maintain laboratory standards, assists the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support, performs risk analysis before each task or job, participates in Service Quality Meetings with customers to improve performance, and participates in HSE and Quality initiatives while wearing PPE and maintaining required safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance tests on company products.
  • Prepare laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite.
  • Provide advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design.
  • Maintain contact with Client Support Labs and/or operating locations, product centers and the InTouch repository.
  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop competency in advanced additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards.
  • Assist the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support as required.
  • Perform risk analysis before each task or job to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers and improve performance using action plans.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain the required safety training.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related scientific/technical field.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of laboratory experience in oil & gas, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, environmental testing, or related industries (entry-level candidates with strong lab internships may be considered).

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with sample preparation, basic wet chemistry, and routine analytical testing.
  • Understanding of calibration, QA/QC practices, and data integrity principles.
  • Comfort working with digital tools (LIMS, spreadsheets, test reporting systems).
