Laboratory Technician

Full-time position (40 hrs/week), Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at Livestock Exchange Campus (30th & L).

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens from patients and perform in-house testing.
  • Prepare specimens for outside testing and record lab results accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, records, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, CLIA, OneWorld Community Health Center’s Performance Improvement Plans (PIP), and other applicable standards.
  • Correctly identify patients per written protocol and collect appropriate specimens.
  • Label specimens accurately and completely, ensuring specimen integrity for testing.
  • Perform quality control procedures and maintain proper documentation for all waived tests in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, and PIP guidelines.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Infection Control standards.
  • Collaborate with patients and the clinic healthcare team regarding test availability, specimen collection, and cost-effectiveness of tests.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and internal clients while ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and verify all supplies are within time limits before use in patient testing.
