Laboratory Technician
About the role
The Geotechnical Lab Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of geotechnical laboratory testing under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. This role is part of Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI), a leading US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services in civil and commercial construction.
Responsibilities
- Perform Geotechnical laboratory testing to assist in soil classification
- Absorb and apply visual soil classification techniques
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
- Work with Project Managers to develop project-specific testing protocols
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Able to work off-shift and overtime as needed
- Able to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound
- Able to kneel and squat occasionally
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of laboratory experience preferred
- ACI Certification preferred but not required
