About the role
We are looking for a Biobank Assay Specialist/Laboratory Technician to support the NINDS Biospecimen Core Repository, performing laboratory-based assays, sample processing, and biobank operations. This position is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine analysis and tests on specimens in the laboratory.
- Process and organize multiple samples simultaneously.
- Ensure that all specimens and equipment necessary for experiments are available and in good order.
- Store new samples, update databases, retrieve samples with proper authorization.
- Provide experimental progress updates on procedures performed in the laboratory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, or related field.
- A minimum of TWO (2) years of hands-on laboratory experience in biomedical, clinical, or translational research settings.
- Demonstrated experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment handling human biofluids and/or tissues.
- Experience performing laboratory techniques such as pipetting, PCR, and routine specimen analysis.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, audit trails, and quality control documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to process and manage multiple samples simultaneously.
- Ability to work on-site in a laboratory setting with human specimens.
Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
- Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
Skills
- MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist)/Medical Technology degree or a master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with vacutainers, PCR workflows, and NGS library preparation.
- Experience working in CAP- or CLIA-certified laboratories.
- Familiarity with flow cytometry, ELISA, and Quanterix Simoa assays.
- Experience supporting automated or robotic laboratory platforms.
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $49,000.00-$81,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
Schedule
This is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD.
