Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare metallographic cross sections for evaluation (cut/mount/polish)
• Prepare material for Rockwell hardness testing and perform hardness tests
• Perform microhardness testing on prepared specimens
• Absorb and assist with heat treatment of test specimens per specification requirements
• Machine tensile test specimens and verify dimensions with hand tools
• Absorb and assist with calibration of hand measurement tools
• Absorb and assist in general upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment and workstations
• Assist lead lab tech in sending testing to external laboratory
• Participate in internal and external proficiency testing annually
• Participate in continuous improvement
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
