Laboratory Technician

About the role

Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform ongoing testing that ensures production meets quality standards (mechanical and visual). This position also conducts additional testing as requested by the Technology group or the Quality Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct standard molding and testing as specified on work packets and Technical Work Requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance (PMs) and calibrations.
  • Maintain the laboratory in a tour-ready condition.
  • Follow all standard laboratory work instructions and test methods.
  • Ensure all activities comply with lean, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including IATF 16949, ISO 17025, and ISO 14001.
  • Promote a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Proactively resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Seek continuous improvement through periodic assessments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School education and 0-2 years of appropriate experience at APNA.
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in Polymer or Manufacturing and 2-5 years of experience in the plastics industry with a laboratory focus.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Acceptable color vision to meet departmental needs.

Work Environment

  • Involves sitting, walking, and standing at times.
  • Occasional lifting required.
