Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Laboratory Technician position within 3M’s Corporate Research Process Laboratory offers an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience into a 3M career. You will collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world, contributing to the development of new extrusion technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment in a research laboratory.
• Operate film/adhesive extrusion lines and execute experiments.
• Prepare and operate extrusion equipment.
• Support the development of new extrusion technologies and processes.
• Provide general maintenance, setup, and changeover of equipment.
• Locate defects or problems during the manufacturing process.
• Make adjustments to correct the problem.
• Maintain records of run conditions and produce necessary reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
• Two (2) years of laboratory environment experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Two (2) years experience with polymer processing equipment.

Additional Qualifications

• An associates or two-year technical program certificate in electrical, mechanical, or process engineering.
• Experience as an operator in an R&D laboratory or pilot facility.
• Experience in repairing and maintaining hardware and machinery.
• Solid hands-on mechanical skillset with experience running polymer processing equipment (extruders, pumps, film casting, adhesive coating).
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter who takes initiative in their work.
• Safety oriented.

Pay & Benefits

The expected compensation range for this position is $67,593 - $82,614, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. Additional information about benefits is available at this link.
