Schedule
Part-time (3 days a week), Night Shift: Monday-Friday, every other weekend. Shift hours: 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM or 8:00 PM – 5:30 AM. Training period will be in the afternoons from 1:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to CGMP for processing products, assessing product suitability, component creation, labeling, and/or distribution of products.
- Evaluate specimens for acceptability per policy (e.g., volume, labeling, proper documentation for quality analysis).
- Demonstrate proper techniques to provide excellent standards of care, such as proper preparation (site selection, order of draw), proper technique following standard precautions, and proper disposal of supplies according to facility policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of special procedures (e.g., Bleeding Times, Lactic Acid, Legal Alcohol, Glucose Tolerances).
- Process referred tests and/or miscellaneous tests per facility policy.
- Review system pending reports (e.g., WCP, WQS, PLR, PTR) for reference laboratory tests and resolve problems.
- Prioritize STATs and routine specimens as they arrive in the laboratory or on pending lists per facility standard operating procedures and handle workload efficiently.
- Accurately enter patient demographics into HIS/LIS according to written, oral, or faxed prescription; confirm completeness of prescription (e.g., name, signatures).
- Receive, process, label, and ship blood products.
- Perform thorough visual inspections to ensure all blood products meet rigorous quality standards prior to distribution.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- No prior experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous lab processing experience preferred.
- 6 months’ experience.
