Laboratory Tech

About the Role

Perform laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt). Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives, and others regarding construction sites, project requirements, and testing requirements and results. Process material samples with associated identifying documentation in the laboratory for further testing and analysis.

Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment and work areas while adhering to strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
• Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
• Progressively take on increased training and responsibility in work assignments.
• Maintain assigned equipment.
• Follow safety rules and practices for all projects; perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
• Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of experience required.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Qualifications

• Obtain certification(s) within 90 days of hire.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
