Essential Job Tasks
- Processes samples from the Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion Plants.
- Collaborates with outside laboratories for additional water quality testing as required.
- Completes check chemistry with minimal errors.
- Aids in compliance audits.
- Reviews daily operating logs to ensure proper sample completion, analysis, and reporting.
- Coordinates proficiency testing (PT) for both water systems.
- Prepares and submits required reports such as Monthly Operating Report, SARA report, and Monthly Billing Report.
- Ensures all reports are scanned into ECM after review.
- Coordinates purchasing activities for both water systems, including bulk chemicals, laboratory, and office supplies.
- Aids Operations and Maintenance teams with purchases.
- Manages environmental management functions, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste and recycling.
- Maintains proper recycling to meet SCEEP membership and recycling goals.
- Obtains and maintains at least a B Water Treatment license and demonstrates operational proficiency as needed.
- Completes all mandated training within required timeframe.
- Aids in training of more junior personnel.
- Promotes a safe work environment, reports safety concerns, and performs safety audits.
Position Requirements
Lab Technician A:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other related scientific field from an accredited university + 1 year experience
- Associate's Degree + 3 years experience
- High School Diploma/GED + 5 years experience
Lab Technician B:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other related scientific field from an accredited university
- Associate's Degree + 1 years experience
- High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience
Lab Technician C:
- High School Diploma/GED required
Compensation Information
Lab Technician A:
- $33.35 - $41.65 (min. - mid.)
Lab Technician B:
- $27.00 - $33.75 (min. - mid.)
Lab Technician C:
- $22.00 - $27.40 (min. - mid.)
