Laboratory Tech 6 (Machinist)

About the role

The Lab Tech 6 Machinist position is critical for testing new and existing materials at ATI's Monroe, North Carolina facility. This role involves precisely machining sample parts to evaluate materials' strength, durability, and other properties.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate lathe, cylindrical and surface grinders, milling machine, broader, drill press and other machine tools.
• Machining and preparing mechanical samples for testing.
• Precisely measure sample parts using tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Perform calculations involving fractions and decimals.
• Read and understand written instructions.
• Plan, organize, and control multiple activities.
• Multi-task and manage time requirements.
• Communicate effectively with employees and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Proficient in precision measuring techniques using tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Demonstrated ability to perform calculations involving fractions and decimals.
• Strong reading comprehension skills with the ability to understand and follow written instructions.
• Sound judgment and the ability to plan, organize and control multiple activities.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience in machinist or CNC roles preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one (1) year of machinist or CNC experience.

Skills
