Job Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor oversees laboratory personnel and ensures adherence to quality control protocols. They assist in maintaining laboratory equipment, support staffing and training, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise laboratory personnel in performing routine and specialized testing procedures.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and training laboratory personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and TJC standards.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment and coordinate maintenance and calibration.
  • Manage budgets, purchase laboratory supplies, and maintain inventory.
  • Review test results for accuracy and adherence to quality control protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve testing-related issues.
  • Support proficiency testing and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and related software.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field required.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a nationally recognized agency preferred.
  • State license as required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Certification as MT or MLS preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in a high complexity testing environment.
