About the Role
This is a mid-shift position operating from 12 PM to 9 PM, including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and promote the company vision through regular attendance and punctuality.
- Assist the Business Unit Manager in managing daily operations of the microbiology department, including scheduling, supervising, instructing, monitoring, and performing analyses.
- Perform timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments, including sample preparation, data review, and interpretation.
- Execute work stoppages in the event of quality issues and coordinate with supervisors to resume operations.
- Use appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed government and company standards.
- Promote the company image through ethical business practices.
- Follow Quality System documents, such as SOPs and test methods.
- Perform microbiological testing on client samples using appropriate instruments and techniques.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment; coordinate major repairs with repair personnel.
- Establish and implement procedures for equipment maintenance, calibration, and standardization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory procedures for sample testing.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and quality control results.
- Review and evaluate test data for technical accuracy and compliance with SOPs and test methods.
- Investigate non-conformances, determine corrective actions, and ensure resolution.
- Review and validate technical data before reporting.
- Participate in hiring decisions, including reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
- Train and document the training of technical staff on test methods, SOPs, regulations, and policies.
- Review the performance of direct reports annually and provide written reviews.
- Stay current on technical, industry, and business advancements.
- Maintain responsiveness to client, staff, and coworker needs.
- Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned while conducting activities safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- High School diploma plus 5-7 years of laboratory experience or BS Degree plus 2-3 years of laboratory experience.
- Experience in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
- Ability to organize and lead laboratory personnel to meet corporate goals and optimize productivity.
- Proficiency in the use of eLIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
