Responsibilities
- Supervise daily laboratory activities in the Microbiology department
- Ensure accurate and timely testing results
- Mentor and develop laboratory staff
- Manage workflow and staffing levels
- Resolve production errors and implement process improvements
- Maintain laboratory equipment and quality records
- Evaluate and implement new procedures
- Conduct team coaching and performance evaluations
- Perform bench work as needed
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state regulations
- Administer laboratory policies and procedures
- Handle administrative tasks including payroll and personnel files
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a science field
- 5+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
- Florida Microbiology Supervisor license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science field
- 6+ months of leadership experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory operations and workflow management
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and state regulations
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make decisions in dynamic environments
- Physical capability to perform laboratory tasks
- Flexibility for shift adjustments as needed
