Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily testing and maintenance activities for the Genetic staff.
- Makes sure daily testing and backups are done for molecular procedures such as Plasma Isolation, DNA or cfDNA extraction, PCR techniques, PCR clean up, Barcoding, Dilutions, and Next Generation Sequencing.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and quality assurance standards.
- Communicates effectively and mentors Genetic personnel.
- Maintains laboratory instruments and equipment, keeping detailed records.
- Schedules routine preventative maintenance and all other certifications for equipment.
- Orders and maintains laboratory inventory and keeps track of lot to lot testing records.
- Treats all team members and other departments courteously.
- Reviews and verifies genetic testing procedures, results, and documentation for accuracy.
- Participates in inspections and audits by regulatory agencies.
- Performs required compliance tasks.
- Prepares for CAP and other inspections.
- Participates in other projects and performs other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Molecular Techniques ASCP or equivalent certification in Molecular Pathology required.
- Florida State Licensure is not required.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Basic computer and Laboratory information skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance.
