Laboratory Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Oversee or coordinate the training and utilization of laboratory staff.
• Oversee or coordinate the maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory and testing equipment.
• Provides supplemental operating policies and procedures unique to the laboratory.
• Aids in proposal and cost estimate preparation for laboratory testing services.
• Safeguards laboratory personnel’s personal safety and ensures they have the necessary tools and equipment.
• Supervises laboratory activities to ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
• Maintains laboratory processes and personnel adherence to company Quality program and QMS.
• Evaluates laboratory personnel’s performance and assists in their professional development.
• Supervises the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment, and requests additional resources as needed.
• Oversees calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory area.
• Supports short-range business development activities and prepares reports and proposals.
• Serves as a supervisor for administrative systems and ensures compliance with company policies.
• Selects, recruits, trains, and manages laboratory personnel.
• Performs construction and geotechnical related laboratory testing.
• Understands and addresses project-related risks, promotes safety, and engages APRs on projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials.
• Certification by qualified national, regional or state authorities (ACI, NICET, DOT) or in-house certification in relevant areas.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Availability for work 6 days a week, including Saturdays.
