Laboratory Supervisor
About the role
Poly-America, L.P. is seeking a Technical Laboratory Supervisor to organize workflows, develop employees and establish quality control guidelines. The position involves the operation, administration, technical supervision and management of the laboratory. Responsibilities include conducting quality tests, organizing and implementing corporate quality systems, developing and writing procedures related to these systems, ensuring accurate evaluation, interpretation, and verification of analyses performed in the laboratory, reviewing, editing, and revising existing procedures and documents, maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment such as FTIR, GC, TGA, and DSC.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality tests
- Organize and implement corporate quality systems
- Develop and write procedures related to quality systems
- Accurately evaluate, interpret, and verify analyses performed in the laboratory
- Review, edit, and revise existing procedures and documents
- Maintain and repair laboratory equipment (FTIR, GC, TGA, DSC)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Plastic Engineering preferred
- Two years of laboratory/quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience maintaining and repairing FTIR, GC, TGA, and DSC
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to teach, motivate, and lead personnel
- Experience with research project management
- Skills in statistics and procedure implementation preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivots, vlookups) is preferred
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Plastic Engineering. Two years of laboratory/quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment are required. Experience with FTIR, GC, TGA, and DSC maintenance and repair is essential. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to teach, motivate, and lead personnel. Experience with research project management and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel are preferred.
