About the role

The Laboratory Specialist II is responsible for the processing and assisting with the management of biological samples collected during clinical trials. The role ensures tasks performed are conducted within compliance of study protocol, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the confidentiality of clinical trial participants and sponsors is respected, while maintaining a high level of quality within the department.
  • Report procedural deviations, issues and/or problem resolutions to appropriate supervisory team members.
  • Understand protocol driven timed study events, which may include but are not limited to, centrifugation, study and clinical diagnostic sample handling/processing, storing samples and acceptable windows (protocol and/or SOP driven) for the timed events.
  • Cook with external vendors (i.e. shipment couriers, central lab).
  • Coordinate with external vendors (i.e. shipment couriers, central lab).

  • Assist with maintaining equipment used in sample management (i.e. freezers, refrigerators, centrifuges) and document accordingly.
  • Assist in the resolution of data queries.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED required; college degree and related work experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-6 years of related experience required.
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.
  • Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills are required.
  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, customer service focused and ability to work in fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Work Schedule: 6:00am-4:30pm (Sunday - Wednesday) or 11:00am-7:30pm (Monday - Friday)
